A bid offered by Heavy Constructors, Inc. based in Rapid City for work on Eighth Avenue in Belle Fourche was recently accepted by the city council, reports the Black Hills Pioneer. The accepted bid amount landed at $4.1 million dollars, while other bids came in as high as $9.7 million.
The construction project includes sewer updates beginning at State Street lift station through the post office at Eighth Avenue, and ending near National Sreet. City Finance Officer Sharon Mins indicated that the city estimated the project to cost between $4.5 and $4.9 million dollars. The city budgeted $4.3 million as part of its Capital Improvement Plan. The city also plans to host a public meeting concerning the work later this month.
