Awareness Brought to Homelessness in Rapid City

Mayor Steve Allender declared the week of November 12-20 as National Hunger and Homelessness Awareness Week in Rapid City, as reported in a release from the City of Rapid City. In addition to issuing the proclamation, Mayor Allender and Assistant Police Chief Don Hedrick joined members of the Rapid City Youth Task Force in Art Alley to dedicate a mural that aims to raise awareness for homelessness.

A candlelight vigil will also take place in Main Street Square on November 17th to raise awareness for homelessness and poverty in Rapid City.
