Applicants Wanted for Civic Center Taskforce

Rapid City Mayor Steve Allender wants a new task force to address the Civic Center issue. In March, voters defeated a measure that would have refurbished and expanded the Barnett Arena, but the facility still needs to be brought into compliance with the standards of the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA). After his election, Allender formed an advisory committee to identify what needed to be done for the Civic Center. Now, according to the Rapid City Journal, he wants an official task force to study the issue and recommend fixing the ADA deficiencies or make larger changes.

Applications for the task force are available online. Applications are due by December 18.
