School Board to discuss proposed spending reductions at a 5:30 p.m. Tuesday in the cafeteria of West Middle School at 1003 Soo San Drive.
According to the Rapid City Journal, Superintendent Tim Mitchell, has outlined a plan to save more than $6.5 million in general fund spending in the 2015-2016 school year. The majority of the reductions are aimed at cutting support personnel positions in literacy and math education, and replacing with another type of support system. Mitchell is optimistic the staff reduction will not cost anyone a job. On average the district has 100 people retire or resign each year. News channel KOTA shared the proposed budget cut breakdown.
