Meadowbrook Golf Course Restaurant

Built in 2002, the Meadowbrook Golf Course Restaurant in Rapid City has changed ownership several times, including a brief time period in which it was under city operation.

The restaurant, built in 2002, has changed ownership several times. The Sandtrap Grill & Pub, owned by Arthur and Wendy Barrett, opened in 2007. The city assumed ownership of the restaurant after the previous owners asked to be released from their lease. The restaurant was closed from October to December of 2010. The Barretts sold the restaurant's equipment to the city for $39,000.

The Meadowbrook Golf Course Restaurant opened under city management by the Parks and Recreation Department in January 4th, 2011. The restaurant suffered from growing issues such as: operating with a growing deficit, losing money, and cutting workers wages.

Recent Developments

The Parks and Recreation Department requested proposals for a food and beverage concessionaire and in January 2013, two proposals were submitted to manage the Meadowbrook Golf Course Restaurant. Both proposals were submitted by Canyon Lake Chophouse. The Public Works Committee discussed the proposals at their January 29th meeting and voted to approve the agreement with the Chophouse. The City Council voted to authorize the Mayor and Finance Officer to sign the Concession Agreement with Canyon Lake Chophouse at their February 4th, 2013 meeting.
