Ellsworth Welcomes Airmen Home

Airmen from the 28th Bomb Wing stationed at Ellsworth Air Force Base returned home yesterday after a deployment to Southwest Asia, reports Ellsworth AFB news.

Around 350 airmen were deployed for over six months in support of Operation Enduring Freedom. Their primary task while in Southwest Asia, commonly understood to be Afghanistan, was to provide air assistance, surveillance and reconaissance capabilities for military objectives.

B-1 Bombers from the 9th Bomb Wing out of Dyess Air Force Base in Texas will now be in charge of overseeing Operation Enduring Freedom in Southwest Asia.
