Rapid City Police Data Shows Crime Up

Crime was up 12 percent in Rapid City in 2014, according to the Rapid City Police Department's annual report, reports KOTA TV

The biggest increases came in the areas of vehicle thefts and sexual assaults, although a change in the way sexual assaults were reported accounted for some of that increase. Vehicle thefts rose 42 percent to 219 cases.

Overall arrests were up about 2.5 percent from 2013.
