Rapid City Pays Tribute to Fallen Police

August 5th marks the first Blue & Chrome Day, dedicated to fallen police officers across the country. According to the Blue & Chrome flyer, the day will include a memorial walk, a motorcycle ride through the Black Hills, and a free concert at 5pm (moved to Rushmore Hall at the Civic Center). According to the Rapid City Journal, the Blue & Chrome foundation would like to make this an annual event.

In 2013, 105 officers and 17 canine officers died. Rapid City Police Department's Fallen Heroes remembers the Rapid City officers who have died over the years, the most recent in 2011.
