Larry and the Monsters, a short film produced and directed by two Black Hills residents, will premier at the Historic Homestake Opera House in Lead at 7 p.m. Friday, Feb. 6.
Larry and the Monsters is a 30-minute movie prelude to an all-new web series written and directed by Ryan Brewer of Spearfish and produced by Keith Melcher of Deadwood. The pair head up Magic-Time Films.
The movie was filmed by Shaun O’Connell of Aberdeen. Larry and the Monsters was shot onsite in Spearfish and Deadwood featuring local actors and crew.
“Magic-Time Films is interested in making a stronger community of filmmakers in the Black Hills and surrounding area,” said Brewer.
About the movie: Larry is a down-on-his-luck bachelor who is cursed to live with second-rate monsters. His three roommates include a scheming vampire, a phobia-ridden Wolf-man, and a passive Mummy who doesn’t understand the concept of living in a house. Together, the monsters do everything they can to ruin Larry’s plans for a brighter future. NOTE: Larry & The Monsters contains mature themes and mature language; this movie is rated R for mature audiences.
Admission is by donation at the door. Patrons will enjoy free popcorn. Beer, wine, soda and water are available for purchase. The ticket booth opens one hour prior to showtime. Proceeds benefit Magic-Time Films.
