House Hunting in the Black Hills Can be a Challenge

Finding an affordable home in the Black Hills can be a challenge, the Custer County Chronicle reports.

The demand for homes in the hills is up but the supply hasn't kept pace, and for the homes that are available, overpricing is a large concern. Apartment rentals are hard to find as well. Many owners of apartments use their properties as vacation rentals because more revenue can be generated, which means long-term renters can experience difficulty finding a place.

At the same time, the housing market in the Black Hills has seen an increase over the past 12 months for both residential and land sales.
