Oglala Lakota College Head Start/Early Head Start has its main office in Kyle. It provides HS and EHS services in Kyle, Manderson, Oglala, Pine Ridge, and Porcupine. It also provides HS services in Allen, Martin, Wakpamni, Wanblee, and Wounded Knee.
The Oglala Lakota County (formerly Shannon County) School District includes the Batesland School (K-8), Oglala Lakota County Alternative (K-8), Oglala Lakota County Virtual High School (9-12), Red Shirt School (K-8), Rockyford School (K-8), and Wolf Creek School (K-8).
According the South Dakota Department of Education 2014-2015 Report Card, Oglala Lakota County School District had a graduation rate 3.57 percent in the 2014-2015 academic year which was far below the state average of 83.86 percent. In 2016, the four year cohort graduation rate was 3.28 percent.

Red Cloud Indian School: Founded in 1888 by a group of Jesuits and Franciscan Sisters on land chosen by Chief Red Cloud, the Red Cloud Indian School first began operation under the name of Holy Rosary Mission School 125 years ago. As enrollment grew, more campuses were opened.
Red Cloud Elementary School: Red Cloud Elementary School provides a K-8 Lakota, Catholic, and Jesuit education to students on the eastern side of the Pine Ridge Indian Reservation. Located just north of Pine Ridge, buses travel hundreds of miles each day to transport students to Red Cloud Schools.
Red Cloud High School: Red Cloud High School is 9-12 program that focuses on Lakota, Jesuit, and Catholic cultures and education that encourages and aids students in finding successful futures. The school hopes that students will learn and embrace all parts of their cultures to make then knowledgeable and successful adult members of the community. One of Red Cloud High School’s main objectives is to seek 100 percent post-secondary enrollment, and many students have the opportunity to apply for scholarships to top national Jesuit universities.
Our Lady of Lourdes Elementary School: Located in Porcupine, Our Lady of Lourdes Elementary School provides a K-8 combination of Lakota, Catholic, and Jesuit education. An important part of the Red Cloud Indian School system, OLL has been educating students since 1931.
Oglala Lakota College is based in Kyle, South Dakota and is a charter of the Oglala Sioux Tribe. Its mission is to provide educational opportunities that enhance Lakota life, including community services, certificates, GEDs, and associate, bachelor, and graduate degrees.
