Rapid City to Get New Water Park Facility
Rapid City is about to get a new water park that will rival many of the largest waterparks in the country. Thenew Rippin Rapids Resort and Adventure Sports water park facility is slated to be built by the spring of 2014 and will be 93,000 sq. feet when finished, over 20,000 sq. feet more than the Watiki waterpark will be after its own expansion is done. Rapid City Council to Vote on Amending Tax Increment Financing District Review Process Tonight
Proposed changes will alter the make up and appointment of the Review Committee. First reading of the ordinance is schedule for the March 4, 2013 Rapid City Council meeting.

Jobs the Focus of Rapid City's Economic Development
Ben Snow, President of Black Hills Area Economic Development Corp., will be giving a jobs report to the Legal and Finance Committee highlighting the new jobs that have come to Rapid City over the last year. He will also highlight new sectors that they are pursuing in an effort to bring in more jobs from other enterprises to keep the city's economic development going. Read more »
Rapid City Crackerbarrels for 2013 Wrapped Up On Saturday
Cracker Barrel opened with Senator Rampelberg updating the audience on the library districting bill, property tax bill, animal cruelty bill, all of which did not pass in the legislature. Read more »
Edgemont to Host Crackerbarrel on Feb. 9
The public is invited to attend and meet their South Dakota Legislature representatives and senator. The Crackerbarrel will begin at 9:30 AM at the Senior Center, 5th & F St in Edgemont.
Powertech Uranium Mine Permit Application Opens for Public Discussion
The application by Powertech to build an in situ uranium mine near Edgemont is now open to discussion and intervention from the public. Any interveners' complaints will result in the South Dakota Board of Minerals and Environment holding a hearing on the application in May. Rapid City Writing Off Nearly $200,000 in Unpaid Utility Bills
Rapid City is writing off almost $200,000 in unpaid utility bills from various residential and business properties in the community. The Council will still try to recover the money through collection agencies. The amount to be written off represents less than 1% of the total bills collected throughout the year. Rapid City Summer Nights Could Relocate to St. Joseph Street
Rapid City Summer Nights is considering moving to the corner of St. Joseph and 7th streets for its upcoming 2013 summer season. This is due to the growing music scene at the Main Street Square and police concerns about closing off Main St. the past few years. The move would allow for easier traffic rerouting and give concerts at the Square a better chance to expand without noise interference from the Summer Nights stage.
